The Smyrna Tour Bus 2023: 'Jumping On Board' For Some Exciting Adventures!
The Smyrna History on Wheels tour of 2023 is over now but was considered a resounding success.
Under the guidance of our accomplished tour guides, Philip Ivester and Rebekah Helfgot, Smyrna enthusiasts were treated to a captivating journey filled with enlightening insights, intriguing anecdotes, and personal narratives as the bus traversed the streets of Smyrna.
With “Lewis,” our skilled bus driver at the helm, passengers not only explored Smyrna’s historical landmarks but also forged connections and exchanged stories, making the tour an even more enriching experience.
Below are 2 stops in particular, where the Smyrna roamers were treated to special guest speakers.
The Miller's House/Ruff's Grist Mill
The first destination on the tour transported us to the enchanting Miller’s House and Ruff’s Grist Mill. Bob and Pat, the generous proprietors, dedicated their morning to offering our Smyrna sightseers a comprehensive tour, replete with captivating stories from the Grist Mill’s storied history. As we wandered through the premises, there was a definite sense of stepping inside a living time capsule, surrounded by the echoes of days gone by.
The Old Fire House
The tour concluded with a visit to the “Old Fire House”, where Robert, the property owner (and his pup), regaled us with captivating tales of how he acquired the building, complete with its two original fire trucks.
As we explored the premises, it became evident that the property is a veritable treasure trove of eclectic artwork, the likes of which one must witness to fully appreciate.
Today, the Old Fire House has undergone a remarkable transformation, serving as an enchanting event venue that has become a favored choice for weddings and other celebrations.
